On the 25th of February 2010, 110 years pass from the birth of Richard
Indreko (1900-1961), a representative of the first generation of Estonian
archaeologists. The pioneer of the research of Estonian Stone Age was a
distinguished scientist in Eastern and Northern Europe but he also had a wider
international scope. His interdisciplinary writings have remained in the sphere
of interest and literature lists of Stone Age researchers to date.

The Institute of History and Archaeology of the University of Tartu and the
Centre of Excellence in Cultural Theory wish to celebrate this event via
publishing a collection of articles dedicated to Richard Indreko named Man, his time and space in the series Research into Ancient Times (Muinasaja Teadus). The planned publication will focus on the research topics of Richard Indreko, hence the range of subjects of the expected contributions is wide, extending chronologically from the Mesolithic to the Bronze Age and from the settlement archaeological problems to the dilemmas of past ethnoses. Both broader theoretical contemplations as well as problem-centred analyses concentrating on single questions are welcome.

Conditions for the writing of the article are customary. The required length
of the article is 10-15 pages. We expect you to write in Estonian, German,
English or Russian and add an Estonian or a foreign abstract. A foreign summary
is required in case of an Estonian article and vice versa. Figures are asked to
be presented both digitally as well as as a printout. If you wish to contribute
to the collection of articles, you are kindly asked to let us know the title of
your article on the e-mail address Mari Lõhmus by October 1, 2009 at
the latest. The deadline for the articles is February 1, 2010.

Expecting your contributions,Kristiina Johanson, Mari Lõhmus and Aivar
Kriiska
